Volunteer Opportunities

Connect with Your Community Through Volunteering

When you volunteer with TCAA, you're not just giving your time — you're giving comfort, connection, and hope. Whether you're delivering a warm meal, greeting a neighbor at the shelter, or helping behind the scenes, every role helps someone move from crisis to stability.

We believe everyone deserves a safe place to sleep, nourishing food to eat, and a chance to thrive. And it takes all of us — volunteers, staff, and neighbors — working together to make that happen.

  • Food Pantry

Includes stocking shelves, packing food boxes, picking up food from local partners, and helping with local food drives. This environment is fast-paced and constantly changing to meet clients’ needs. Morning and afternoon volunteer shifts in the pantry are available every weekday, and evening shifts are available Tuesdays and Thursdays.

  • Neighbors Helping Neighbors

Provide services to our senior clients which allow them to stay in their current home as long as possible.  Below is a listing of the greatest needs.

    • Client Support – friendly phone calls/social visits, paperwork assistance, technology support
    • Household – light household chores, minor home maintenance, pet care, seasonal yardwork
    • Transportation – grocery shopping with/for, healthcare related, nutritional support deliveries, pet related, other errands/outings
  • Senior Lunches

Help prepare and serve at congregate meal events, with a chance to engage with clients and in various activities. Daily or special event opportunities available.

  • Meals on Wheels (Home Delivered Meals)

Meal Packing: Help prepare and package meals to be sent out for meal delivery. This assignment works out of our North Tempe location Monday – Friday from 8 – 9:30am.

Meal Delivery: Help deliver meals and conduct a wellness check for our older adult or disabled clients. This assignment works out of our North Tempe location Monday – Friday from 9:30 – 11:30am .

Volunteers are needed to package catered meals and/or deliver meals to the homes of home-bound older adults and adults with disabilities. Because of the deep connection and valued relationships that develop between meal carriers and participants of this program, a minimum six month volunteer commitment is expected. Meal carriers must also have a reliable car and present proof of Arizona Driver’s license, clean driving record, and auto insurance. Mileage reimbursements are available.

Ready to make a difference?

Start by joining a Volunteer Orientation session. You’ll learn about TCAA’s mission and the ways you can jump in — from our Senior Independence programs and I-HELP Emergency Shelter to special events and office support.

If you're under 18, bring a parent or guardian with you. Orientation is required before volunteering.

Can’t make the listed dates? No problem — just reach out to our Volunteer Coordinator at Volunteer1@TempeAction.org and we’ll help you schedule a one-on-one session that fits your schedule.
