Love has a way of finding hope, even in life's most difficult seasons.
Earlier this year, Abdul and Teresa Broner found themselves facing homelessness after losing their jobs. Unsure of what came next, they entered the I-HELP emergency shelter program, where they found not only a safe place to stay, but also the support they needed to begin rebuilding their lives.
Through the I-HELP program, they connected with TCAA's case management team, who worked alongside them as they searched for employment, secured resources, and planned for a more stable future. Before long, both Abdul and Teresa found jobs with the City of Tempe and moved into transitional housing, putting them one step closer to permanent housing.
But amid the uncertainty, one thing never changed: their commitment to each other.
This summer, surrounded by caring staff, volunteers, and community members who have been part of their journey, Abdul and Teresa were married in a beautiful ceremony that celebrated not only their love, but also the resilience that brought them to this moment.
Their wedding was made possible through the generosity of local businesses, donors, and volunteers who donated everything from the venue and decorations to flowers, food, and other special touches. What could have been a simple ceremony became a joyful celebration filled with kindness, laughter, and hope.
For everyone who attended, the day served as a powerful reminder that housing is only one piece of rebuilding a life. Feeling supported, celebrated, and connected to a community can make all the difference.
