Get Know Linda: A Dedicated Volunteer

Linda is in a maroon shirt with hair net and gloves on.

For Linda Redman, volunteering with TCAA isn’t just about giving back; it’s about being deeply connected to the Tempe community she loves.

Linda first got involved during the COVID pandemic, when she began helping with Meals on Wheels meal packing. Over time, she explored other opportunities through TCAA’s volunteer shadowing system,  starting in the Food Pantry, trying out meal prep, and eventually discovering that meal packing was the role that fit her schedule and interests best.

Five years ago, Linda also joined the TCAA Board of Directors, where she now serves as Board Chair. She is also on Capital Campaign Committee.  For her, being both a hands-on volunteer and a leader within the organization offers a unique perspective on TCAA’s impact.

Finding the Right Fit
When reflecting on her journey, Linda shares that what she values most is the people she serves alongside. “I’ve enjoyed the chance to try different opportunities,” she said. “But it’s really the community of volunteers that makes it meaningful.”

Why She Stays
Linda connects strongly with TCAA’s mission because it reflects her own love for Tempe. “I appreciate that TCAA is based in Tempe but helps the broader community as well,” she explained. “And I love that there’s such a variety of services.”

Her Advice to New Volunteers
For those considering getting involved, Linda suggests starting with some research. “Go on the website and learn about TCAA,” she recommends, “then reach out to the Volunteer & Events Manager to find the right opportunity.”

And just like Linda discovered, sometimes the best way to begin is simply by trying something new.
