Building Resilience and TCAA’s New Headquarters: Expanding Our Capacity to Serve the Community
At Tempe Community Action Agency (TCAA), we’ve always strived to meet the growing needs of our community. With the launch of our “Building Resilience” Capital and Program Expansion Campaign, we’re taking a significant step forward in ensuring that every individual and family in the East Valley has access to the resources they need to thrive.
A Bold Vision for the Future
Our campaign supports the construction of a new, permanent home for TCAA at 2425 E. Apache Blvd. This modern, inclusive facility will serve as a regional hub for our programs addressing housing stability, economic mobility, health and well-being, and food security. With a groundbreaking ceremony planned for mid-March 2025, we anticipate opening the new headquarters by May 2026 to mark our 60th anniversary of serving the community.
What the New Headquarters Will Offer
The expanded space will allow us to scale our programs and services, making a more profound impact across the East Valley. Key features include:
- Market-Style Food Pantry: A 2,300-square-foot area where clients can select food that meets their preferences and dietary needs.
- Operating Kitchen: A 2,000-square-foot kitchen to prepare meals for participants at the new facility, City senior centers, Meals on Wheels recipients, and others.
- Resource Navigation and Economic Empowerment Hub: A 3,000-square-foot space dedicated to financial aid, resource navigation, and economic empowerment services.
- Transitional Housing and Emergency Shelter: 80 new beds for individuals and families in need.
Designed with the Community in Mind
The facility will feature trauma-informed design elements and collaborative workspaces, ensuring a welcoming environment for clients, volunteers, and public and private partners. This thoughtful design aligns with our commitment to addressing the unique challenges faced by individuals experiencing poverty, hunger, and homelessness.
Meeting Growing Needs
Over the past decade, the demand for our programs has multiplied, reflecting the increasing hardships faced by families in our community. The new headquarters will allow us to:
- Serve 40,000 clients annually, a 15% increase from current levels.
- Double meal distribution, providing over one million meals annually through expanded food security programs.
- Enhance housing security, sheltering 400 adults and seniors annually.
- Increase early childhood and family strengthening services by 25%, ensuring young families receive vital support during critical stages.
Your Support Can Make a Difference
“TCAA has grown tremendously since its creation in 1966. This campaign is a bold response to the evolving social service needs across East Valley communities,” said Deborah Arteaga, CEO of TCAA. “Every day, our staff and volunteers aim to be agile with our support and continue to meet clients where they are, no matter their circumstances. This new facility will play a pivotal role in strengthening family and community resilience.”
While we’re proud to have raised the majority of funds needed, we still need $6 million to complete this project. By supporting the “Building Resilience” Capital Campaign, you’re helping us create a stronger safety net for those in need.
