Myron remembers exactly what life felt like before he found help. He was living on the streets, sleeping at a bus stop and panhandling each day just to afford something to eat. It was exhausting, lonely and a constant reminder of how far things had fallen. He describes that time as the lowest point in his life.
Everything began to change when someone else experiencing homelessness told him about TCAA. With nowhere else to turn, Myron reached out, and this decision became the turning point in his journey. Through the program, he received shelter, daily meals, transit support, a move-in kit and access to Rapid Re-Housing resources. For the first time in a long while, he felt safe and supported.
Myron credits the structure, encouragement and compassion he found in the program with giving him hope again. His case manager pushed him to take steps toward stability, including finding a job, and he is deeply grateful for her persistence. As he settled into the shelter, he began to rebuild not only his life but his confidence.
Today, Myron calls the change “everlasting.” After two years without work, he now has a job he loves. Each day, he rides his bike nine miles to get to and from work, feeling healthier and more proud of himself than he has in a long time. He says he finally feels like he is contributing to his community and thriving.
Myron also shares his appreciation for Melinda, the Program Manager, noting that while she carries a tough demeanor, she genuinely cares about the people she serves. Her support made a meaningful difference in his journey.
From rock bottom to a renewed sense of purpose, Myron’s story reflects the power of perseverance, support and a community that refuses to give up on the people it serves.
