Living Out Her Faith

Joni first connected with TCAA more than 25 years ago through her involvement with I-HELP shelter program, and she has continued to deepen her service ever since. Most recently, she has been one of our most consistent volunteers in the Food Pantry, taking on both the Food Pantry Support role and the Food Pantry Window role.

In her support shifts, Joni has sorted and packed hundreds of pounds of donated food, helping ensure that nutritious items make their way into the hands of neighbors who need them most. At the pantry window, she plays a direct and vital part in distributing food boxes to community members who rely on our services—always with kindness, patience, and compassion.

Joni also went above and beyond this past weekend by recruiting a volunteer group to install holiday lights for seniors in our Neighbors Helping Neighbors program, bringing joy and connection to community members who cherish this tradition.

When asked what inspires her continued service, Joni shared:

“I have been involved with I-HELP at TCAA for over 25 years. Most recently I have been serving as a Food Pantry support volunteer and helped put up holiday lights through the Neighbor Helping Neighbor program. These opportunities allow me to live out my faith by serving the unhoused, those facing food scarcity and those who just need a little help. I am grateful to be able to partner with so many different people from the community to work together toward a common goal. My life is certainly enriched.”

Joni’s commitment to showing up, giving back, and lifting others truly embodies the spirit of TCAA. We are incredibly grateful for her time, energy, and heart.

Thank you, Joni, for being a shining example of what volunteerism can look like.
