KEEPING FAMILIES HOUSED DURING A CRISIS
TCAA's Community Action Program offers emergency relief for rent, mortgage, and utility payments for households experiencing a financial crisis
1. EMERGENCY RENTAL ASSISTANCE
Households experiencing financial hardship may be eligible for Emergency Rental Assistance (ERA). Qualified households can receive up to six (6) months* for rental and utility assistance. Payments can be made for past due, owed, and/or future rental and utility bills based on funding availability and payment history.
*If you received six (6) or more months of assistance, you will not be eligible for additional payments.
Who is eligible?
- Must rent in Tempe, AND
- Have an income at or below 80% of the Area Median Income (click here for income details), AND
- Someone in the household qualified for Unemployment benefits
- The household is at risk of becoming homeless or housing is unstable (for example, has past-due rent or utility notices or eviction notice).

2. HOME ENERGY ASSISTANCE FUNDS
TCAA has funding available to help families avoid crisis situations by preventing disconnection and/or facilitating reconnection of utility services. Eligible utility assistance providers include Arizona Public Service (APS), Salt River Project (SRP), and Southwest Gas. Eligibility for funds is determined based off household income levels and condition of household crisis.
To get help:
- Applications are available on-site TCAA's Esquer and Ramsey Center, 2146 E. Apache Blvd, Tempe, AZ 85282
- Complete all sections of the application(s) and attach all required documents.
- Call the Help with Bills Hotline (480-389-1375) to discuss your eligibility for utility assistance.
