Dear %contactInformalName%, We have some exciting news to share: the final beam has officially been placed on our new Jerry W. Brock Foundation Human Services Center! Reaching this "topping off" milestone means the structural bones of the building are complete, and we can finally see our vision for a stronger community taking shape.
This progress wouldn't be possible without your incredible heart and support every step of the way. We’re still on track for a grand opening celebration later this year, and we can’t wait to welcome you into this warm, new space that includes an expanded permanent shelter, transitional housing beds, and an expanded food pantry.
Stay tuned as we head into the home stretch of construction! |
Round Up at Paul’s Ace Hardware |
Paul's Ace Hardware is supporting TCAA throughout May with a round up at the register at their two Tempe locations.
When you round up your purchase, your donation goes directly to TCAA, plus Paul’s Ace Hardware will add a 10% match of all donations. Participating locations: • 929 E Broadway Rd, Tempe • 1153 W Broadway Rd, Tempe |
We’re still smiling after our Volunteer Appreciation event on May 2nd. The Walter Hive hosted us for a fun afternoon of connection. We made one-of-a-kind TCAA keychains together and enjoyed a great lunch from Rosita’s.
Summer’s here, and while some folks are away, the need doesn’t take a break. Whether you’re already volunteering and looking to get more involved or just thinking about jumping in, we’ve got a place for you. Many people choose to start at our food pantry because of the flexible scheduling and the low barrier to entry; no documentation is required. For those who might have additional time we also are always looking for support with our Home Meal Delivery Driving and our Neighbors Helping Neighbors program.
If you’ve got a little time to give this summer, we’d love to have you. Reach out at Volunteer1@tempeaction.org |
Corporate Volunteers Make a Big Impact |
Our corporate volunteer groups have been hard at work supporting TCAA this spring.
From overhauling the garden and serving senior meals to stocking the food pantry and writing heartfelt notes of encouragement, these dedicated volunteers help us provide critical services to neighbors in need every day. We are so grateful! Read all about our corporate volunteer activities this spring
If your workplace, civic group, or faith community would like more info about rewarding (and fun) volunteer opportunities for groups, please contact Julie at JulieL@tempeaction.org. |
From Connection to Community |
At a time when she was hoping for more connection, Teresita found a perfect match in Sydney, a volunteer who shares her background at Arizona State University.
Through our matching program, their bond has grown into a genuine friendship that brings joy, confidence, and a renewed sense of community.

The Heart of the Pantry: Celebrating Volunteer Loni Bell |
After moving to Tempe and searching for a fresh start, Loni Bell found healing and purpose by volunteering with Tempe Community Action Agency. What began as a way to rebuild her sense of community has grown into a deeply meaningful part of her life. Loni now volunteers in our food pantry three days a week, bringing joy, compassion, and warmth to everyone she meets.

At Tempe Community Action Agency, we envision a society where every person has what they need to live a healthy, purposeful life. It is our mission to eliminate poverty and advance equitable communities. |
