A Life Well Lived and Loved |
Our community lost a gentle, giving, and loving soul a few weeks ago. Jennifer Anne Johnson and her family have been long-standing champions of TCAA and the people we serve. Community activist and close friend of TCAA, Jenny Norton said it best- “Although filled with sorrow, I am also filled with gratitude for all that Jennifer did for our community and our city. It is an honor to support her memorial fund and our compassionate Tempe Community Action Agency.” You can read more about this remarkable person here. |
This year, TCAA was honored to partner with Dreambuilders Foundation, UnitedHealthcare and 3 Arizona Cardinals players (Evan Brown, JJ Russell, and Mack Wilson, Sr.) for our annual Turkeys and More event on Tuesday, November 18th. With this partnership, we were able to provide over 700 turkeys and bags of side dishes to our community. This is over twice as many as previous years! With the government shutdown, microburst and delay in SNAP benefits, we were able to meet the increased need. We are so thankful for their support in nourishing hope during this holiday season.

Rigatony's Jumps into Action |
Rigatony's has partnered with TCAA for over 15 years!
During this time they have donated more than 30,000 meals to support our pantry, I-HELP shelter meals, and our Senior Congregate lunch program.
The restaurant wanted to do more when SNAP benefits were frozen so they raised money with their loyal customers and presented us with a check for over $13,000!
We could not be more grateful for their partnership. If you're looking for delicious food from a local restaurant that gives back to their community, please consider dining with Rigatony's! |
Judy hasn't had holiday lights on her house in at least 20 years!
That all changed this year when she joined our Neighbors Helping Neighbors program.
“It’s festive. It makes me feel better. I get kind of in a slump every now and then when it comes to the holidays,” said Judy. It's a win for volunteers too. Casey said the tradition gives them the chance to reconnect and help someone else for the holidays. “We’ve been doing this together, the three of us, for at least seven years,” said volunteer Casey Thomas. |
A bed = The Key to Rebuilding a Life |
Manuel suffered a serious back injury and was hospitalized for three months. Unable to work and still in pain, he had no choice but to live in his vehicle. That all changed when he learned about our I-HELP Shelter program.
“Without this program, I would have been living on the street,” he said. “It gave me a safety net and a launch pad to get back on my feet.” Read more about Manuel's story! |
Urgent Need: Meals on Wheels Volunteers |
Do you have a Level 1 Arizona Fingerprint Card and a little extra time this holiday season? We’re urgently seeking temporary volunteers who already hold a Level 1 Arizona Fingerprint Card to help cover Meals on Wheels shifts during the Christmas and New Year’s weeks.
With many regular volunteers out of town, covering even one shift can make a huge difference for the homebound seniors who depend on these meals and wellness checks.
If you’re able to help, please email Mike at volunteer1@tempeaction.org or call 480-422-8922 x5881. Your support during this busy season truly matters! |
Opportunities to Get Involved |
Start your volunteer journey by joining one of our upcoming Volunteer Orientation sessions.
You’ll learn about TCAA’s mission and the many ways you can make an impact—supporting our Senior Independence programs, helping in the Food Pantry, assisting at special events, or providing office support. It’s the perfect first step to explore where your time and talents can help strengthen our community.
