"First Crush"
Charity Wine Gala

Please join Tempe Community Action Agency for the seventh annual "First Crush" Charity Gala held at Hayden Ferry Lakeside. This is an event you won't want to miss! Besides raising funds and awareness about TCAA and our many wonderful programs, you will enjoy a night of wine tasting and can bid on a huge selection of silent auction items.
Last year, more than 300 guests attended and an incredible $50,000 was raised. Proceeds from this events will go to support the many services TCAA provides. There are six levels tailored for individuals & companies to decide what area they would like to sponsor our clients.

Tell Your Story & Make A Difference at the ACAA Community Forum
When: Thursday, August 11 Where: DisabilityEmpowerment Center 5025 E. Washington Street Phoenix, AZ 85034
Time: 6-8 PM
Dinner, Childcare & a $25 gift card will be provided for each participant
Arizona Community Action Association will be hosting a Community Forum event in order to understand the different life experiences individuals and familes have faced, and the steps they have taken to improve their situations. These community conversations are being held in order for ACAA and other human and social service providers to learn what has worked and what hasn't worked. Please come and share your experiences so that these organizations can support the programs that are working and design other programs and services to help more people build better lives. If your experience could help others that are stuggling, please come and share so they can learn how to start building a better future. You can make a difference, please come and share your story! Weatherization Helps Reduce the Cost of Energy Bills
Low income Tempe and Fountain Hills homeowners may be eligible
for assistance with weatherization improvements to their home.
Federal stimulus funds are available for non-emergency improvements
which will reduce the use and cost of electricity and household gas
for the homeowner. I
mprovements may include: duct repair and air sealing; installation of attic,
wall, or crawl space insulation; Air Conditioning services: repair or replace-ments; weather-
stripping; west window sun shades, low flow shower heads and energy
efficient refrigerators.
Residents of Tempe and Fountain Hills may apply through the Tempe Community
Action Agency and Maricopa County Human Service Division. Applications
are being accepted at this time. To make inquires
regarding income guidelines; proof of applicant citizenship,
and other required documents, please contact Mary at 480-350-5886 or Manuela at

Food Drives:
Thank you Kristie Welch and MedAire for organizing a food drive. They collected two barrels and five boxes of food for TCAA's Food Pantry.

Thanks to Day Spring United Methodist Church for donatng a car full of food.
Baskets for Fire Victims:
City in the Desert donated five baskets for the victims of the fire at a Tempe apartment complex near TCAA offices. Many thanks to Cliff & Jan Hoffer and the City in the Desert group.
Also, thank you TCAA Board Members ~ Judy Aldrich & Terry DeValle for donating baskets to the fire victims.
